OCEAN MASTER 296 LH: LIGHTER, FASTER, STRONGER
In the quest to make boats lighter, faster and more fuel-efficient, boatbuilders often sacrifice strength. Not so, with Ocean Master’s 296 LH center console.
This dedicated Ocean Master offshore fishing machine will reach speeds of 60 mph and weighs only 4,400 lbs.—but has the same rock-solid hull construction the company is known for worldwide.
Using industry proven techniques and only the finest materials, Ocean Master manufactures the 296 LH with up to 20 layers of fiberglass. Massive, full-sized stringers are glassed into the hull. The innerliner is permanently affixed during the build process. The result is a boat that will stand up to real world conditions and conquer them.
The 29′ 6″ boat uses Ocean Master’s proven offshore hull form. Its flaring V shape provides a dry, stable ride—one that imparts confidence to run farther and harder. And when the weather gets rough, the 296 LH has the brawn and seaworthiness to bring its passengers home safe.
One might expect such an overbuilt boat to be slow to plane or guzzle the gasoline, but the 296 LH will plane in under three seconds with a pair of 250 hp engines. At a cruise speed of 37 mph, it will run at 2 mpg. With 202 gallons of fuel, that gives it a bite-chasing range of 400 miles.
With an 8′ 6″ beam and its lighter weight, it’s easily towed. That’ll save on marina surcharges when refueling and provide the ability to fill up with ethanol-free gasoline. And with a 1′ 4″ draft, launching and retrieving the 296 LH is a breeze.
Every Ocean Master boat is semi-custom built to the owner’s specs. Options are almost endless, but the 296 LH comes with an enviable list of standard features. It has an astounding 625 gallons of storage, a 120 gal. fishbox and a two 35 gal. livewells. It can be rigged with single outboards from 250–350 hp, or twin 200–250 hp engines.
The Ocean Master 296 LH starts at $138,000.
