Luxury tax repeal on boats in Connecticut
Boats that cost more than $100,000 are no longer subject to luxury tax in Connecticut. This is part of the major victories on boating. The charge was led by Rep Pat Widlitz, trying to re-energize the boating industry in Connecticut.
Also part of the bill, winter storage tax and use exemption was extended for an additional 2 months, and boats are now able to be in the state for up to 60 days before there is sales or use tax liability.
The law, Public Act 13-184, was signed by the Governor on June 19th and will take effect July 1, 2013.
